The
death toll on the school collapse in Haiti has climbed to about
94. According to the recent news, the owner of the building has
been arrested for failure to comply with construction
rules in Haiti. Based on substantial rumors, apparently that
building was bought in 2004 and it was a single floor which the
owner, without the assumption of the possible weak base of the
building, has been adding more floors which indeed contributes
to its collapse. This huge tragedy has impacted the whole
population of Haiti specially Petion-Ville where it
happened last Friday November the seventh.
Thousands of hopeful
Haitians
crowded around the school in the
Port-au-Prince suburb, cheering and shouting directions
as searchers dug through the remnants of College La Promesse,
occasionally finding survivors a day after it collapsed. Trucks
carrying o xygen and other medical supplies rumbled up the
mountainside.
Hope Foundation of Haiti has dispatched one of its teams and
they are already on site to respond and assist those who might
be affected by the situation.
